Perhaps there were some gliches a while back but our friend is now regularly enjoying Ecco's again and suggested dinner last evening. Hey, this is great California pizza! Comfortable seating, really great waiter, friendly smiles from all. Plentiful parking (why did yelp decide to remove that useful information?). We had the large supreme which could have easily fed five people. Our hostess was able to bring home a nice sized box of leftovers.

Mysterious to me is how they get the cheese to actually glissen. Big, beautiful layer of fresh fallen snow, ...er, mozzarella cheese blanketed the city....er...hidden mushrooms, sausage and pepperoni. Sorry, a bit of nostalgia for New York. New York pizza to be specific. Bf suggested 4.8 stars only because it is not the New York pizza that defines pizza for us. I see attempts to describe it. Terms like thin crust. Explanations, like it's the water. How exactly does one descibe beauty?

A friend of mine, he's been coming to Ecco's since he was a kid, said it was (and still is) his favorite pizza place.  He's always, by the way, stuck to the same pizza as well: without a second thought, he maintains, it's been the Ecco Special.

Well, Ecco's has certainly been around awhile, since 1977, to be exact, much longer than my friend has anyway; and because of its longevity,  Ecco's is special to him.  His returning again and again allows him to re-experience those memorable times of his past, to enjoy a slice of his childhood.  And Ecco's caters to that.  Long Beachers, as loyal and as proud as they are, are appreciative of places that have become part of their great city's landscape--the charm and the nostalgia of Ecco's, then,  bringing them back home for at least a little while.  There aren't many places that can say the same.  And while Ecco's had changed hands in 1993, the new owner understood the locals' sentamentality.  Changes to the menu and even the decor were then kept at a minimum.  (I read a short article about Ecco's history.)  And I get it.

Ecco's isn't "outdated," and it's not its "vibe" or its intention to look or appear as though.  It's just been around awhile, a lot longer than many of its reviewers (no disrespect to them.)  It's historic, aging rather nicely, I have to say.  It's persevered.  It's lasted, stood the test of time, as they say.  Loyal.  And while it serves up a damn good pizza (not my favorite, but in my top five), Ecco's, I must point out, has a wonderful staff, and their hard work and great attitude are noticed and highly appreciated.

I liked this place A LOT!! Yeah it's got a outdated look but that's the vibe. Pizza, pasta, traditional Italian dishes and salad. What more do you want? Flavor? They got that...
I experienced this place for dinner with a party of 6 and it was an hour to closing. The staff probably hated us but we wouldn't know it. Our server was friendly and attentive until she was left alone to attend the floor and registers but we understood,  it was time to close at that point and she wasn't rushing us at all, super nice girl. I don't remember her name but she's a keeper and should be recognized for it.
We ordered a medium and large pizza, small antipasto salad and a dozen of wings. Everything tasted and looked so good. I wish I would have taken a pic of our pizza, I was to hungry to care but I did get one of the salad.
If you like fresh tasting pizza then you gotta try this place. Eat in or take it home, they even deliver,  your choice.

I came back tonight after a while.  Wanted to have something different,  settled for my usual favorite.  The service was amazing, nice to have a pleasant server Justin F F, he was so friendly.  The reason I frequent certain restaurants is the servers that are friendly and make me feel welcome.  I will definitely be back to see Justin F F
